Alfred Hill (conductor) and orchestra at the opening ceremony of the New Zealand International Exhibition in Christchurch, held in the exhibition buildings in Hagley Park. Shows the orchestra (from behind the orchestra pit) looking out towards a large audience. Photograph taken by Steffano Francis Webb on 1 November 1906.
The orchestra performed Alfred Hill's 'Exhibition Ode' which was written expecially for this exibition.
