Description

Homer Tunnel entrance, while under construction, circa 1939. Photographer unidentified.

Caption on back of file print reads "The mouth of the tunnel which is being driven under the Homer saddle. The tunnel with pierce the Divide between Otago and Southland. Not only will it provide a new tourist route to Milford Sound, but it will open up new fields for climbers, including unclimbed routes on Mount Tutoko."

Note on back of file print reads "MNZ Vol 1, No 10, p 30. The Mountains"
