Steamship Moeraki, photographed at Port Chalmers by David Alexander De Maus.

Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom centre - "Moeraki"; Photographer's title on negative - bottom centre - Protected. 4.1.4. Demaus; Marginal notes on negative - top left - 272-274

Steamship of 4392 tons. Built in 1902 by W Denny & Bros, Dumbarton, Scotland, for the Union Steam Ship Co. of NZ. Used as transport for the NZEF to Samoa in 1914. After the war used on the Sydney-Fiji service. Laid up in Sydney 1930, and broken up in Japan in 1933. See Ships with New Zealand Associations (Vol 8, p 17)
