Shows the New Zealand worker (a large man) sitting at a table filled with food, including a large ham with a big chunk already taken (the Welfare State), a large soup bowl (wage increases), another bowl (industry protection). He is ordering his wife (the economy) to bring him more food. But he gives her only a small amount of money (reduced production) and she is unable to feed him more. Refers to public complaints about protections offered to workers, while the economy is not doing as well as it had been, possibly under Walter Nash's Labour Government of 1957-1960.
