Scales, Sidney Ernest 1916-2003 :People often ask... How on earth do you keep getting ideas for cartoons? Well, sometimes we can't. The brain becomes a vacuum and the muse escapes! Mm - just as I thought. Cartoon germ. Now take this week for instance - we've "done" the cricket. We've "done" Mr Nash. We've "done" Mr Holland. P.M. Gone to Australia. And apart from pointing out that the power outlook is black - we've done nothing today! (P.S. That's one cartoon we won't be able to do again) [1950s]
