Standing portrait of Kawana Hunia Te Hakeke wearing a korowai (Maori tag cloak), photographed circa 1870s. He stands alongside a chair. The studio backdrop behind him depicts a balustrade and a scene beyond with ships and waka on the water and hills behind. Photographer unidentified.

Inscriptions: Verso - Kawana Hunia principal Chief of Rangitiki Turakina and Mangheuhue tribe about seven miles south of the town of Wanganui which takes its name from the river that runs through it.
