Description: Court's drapery and clothing store, Te Aroha Building, Bank Street, Whangarei. Shows a two storied building with a group standing on the footpath by the front of the shop. Nikau palms stand by the verandah posts. Signs in upstairs windows advertise Miss Hickey, dressmaker, and Miss O'Hawken, teacher of painting and (woodcarving?). Photograph taken circa 1900-1905 by Farr. Other - Formerly identified as being in Te Aroha. Wise's Post Office Directories of 1900, 1902, 1905 etc list Court Bros, Marshall and sons (to left, out of frame, seen in other photo of same building held at PAColl-0041-10), and a Thos Hickey in Whangarei. Source of descriptive information - Location, and historical note, from Library client. See C.AP.005.005, 15 April 2008, which includes a photographic print of the building in 2009. Inscriptions: Mount verso - bottom left - Farr; Mount verso - bottom right - Whangarei Te Aroha building still standing in 2009, with a ballroom and billiard room downstairs, and a legal office upstairs.
