Description

A dead sheep lying in a snowy landscape, with one kea pecking at its flank and two more flying in for an attack

The original painting was shown in London at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition, 1886 and in Hobart in 1887. Photographic Archive have a photograph of it hanging at Hobart in the P. A. Saxby Album, no. 2., p. 88. Reproduced as the cover illustration of Marriner, George R. The kea - a New Zealand problem (1908). The location of the original picutre is now unknown. The Library has a photographic copy only.
