Late afternoon view looking north uphill towards the wooden Christ Church Anglican Cathedral building (later burned down), along tree-lined Trafalgar Street South, past the site of John Gully's own home on the right, where a horse and cart are standing. On the right through the trees the roof of a large building with a central tower is visible, probably the Boys' Central School. There are houses to the left of the street, with the sea and hills beyond.
