Description

Most of the material in the series relates to Strewe's internment on Somes Island and at the Pahiatua Camp from 1942 to 1946. It comprises inward and outward correspondence between family, friends and officials, usually relating to his life within the prison, the conditions operating there and injustices, not only to him but also to other inmates. Also included, in the series of folders of his Somes Island scrapbook (MS-Papers-5921-050 to MS-Papers-5921-054), are parts of what appear to be writing (in German) about his internment. Much of this series is in German.
