Callander ... prefaces each article with a short introduction ... important journals, such as Magellan's, Drake's, Tasman's and some others, he gives entirely ... The first section treats of geography, natural history, and commerce. The following sections treat the history of the Antarctic world, down to the middle of the eighteenth century with an account ... of the advances made in the discoveries by each successive navigator"--Hill.
