Text printed in gothic type on paper watermarked with castle (Briquet 15899), crown (similar to Briquet 4668), and double crosses (Briquet 5753).

Leaves unsigned. 326 leaves, leaf [6], 3rd set, and the last leaf, are blank ; leaves [279-281] are blank, apart from the headlines.

352 (366) x 223 mm ; gothic 165 (head-lines and headings), 100b (text) ; 64 lines and head-line ; initial spaces occupying 6, 7, and 8 lines in the table, and spaces on the rectos of numbered folios Ia (14 lines), cclxvii (8 lines) and cclxviii (7 lines), also on un-numbered folio following cclxvi (2 lines); printed initials elsewhere.

"De Sarmacia regione Europe [End] Laus deo" is printed on the 6 leaves inserted between cclxvi and cclxvii.

Binding: alum-tawed pigskin over pasteboard, interrupted bevels on head, tail and fore-edges, blind tooled with fillets and roll tools to panel design including name and date compartments, two hook-clasp fastenings with tooled leather strap (metal clasp missing on one strap), catch-plate on the upper cover; spine blind tooled with decorated compartments, raised spine bands, blue text edges. Endpapers watermarked with the letter "L". In red buckram clamshell box, red grained morocco spine and corners, spine tooled in gilt with title: Nuremberg chronicle. 1493.

The Alexander Turnbull Library SPC copy. Provenance: some marginalia. Correction to foliation on leaf ccxl(x)vii by overpainting in white; correction to foliation on leaf ccxxix by overpainting in white and insertion of missing numeral in black ink; leaves 1-20 numbered in pencil at upper edge. Purchased by Alexander H. Turnbull from Angus & Robertson, Sydney 1901 (cf. Alexander Turnbull Library MS-Papers-0057-111/1901). Repair to fore-edge of leaf cclx; marks around perimeter of the verso of leaf cclv verso and recto of leaf cclvi ; small number of wormholes towards end, some affecting text; natural hole in paper on leaf cxl; slight damage to fore-edge of leaf ccxcvii; slight staining first and last few leaves.
