Three hundred of epigrammes, vpon three hundred proverbs / inuented and made by John Heywood -- The fourth hundred of epigrammes, / inuented and made by Iohn Heywood -- The fifth hundred of epigrammes, / inuented and made by Iohn Heywood -- The sixth hundred of epigrammes, / inuented and made by Iohn Heywood.

Author's name appears on t.p. as Heivvood, with the first "v" filed to create the letter W.

First published in 1546 under title: Dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the proverbes in the Englishe tongue.

Ornamental device (possibly printer's device) on t.p. with motto "By wisdom peace. By peace plenty."Printed in gothic type on watermarked paper, with engraved initials and ornate head and tail-pieces.

Signatures: A-2C⁴.

The work is divided into sections, some with individual t.p., but all with continuous register.
