Western hemisphere or new world -- Eastern hemisphere or old world.

Double hemispherical map of the world showing Captain Cook's discoveries and ships' tracks during the voyage of the Endeavour (1768-71) and the Resolution (1772-75 and 1776-80).

"Papooa or New Guinea" and "Owhyhee where Capt.n Cook was killed" also shown. The latest discoveries of Bass and Flinders show "Basses Straits" and Van Diemen's Land separated from the Australian mainland. Probably second state of Laurie & Whittle's A new map of the world (1794) showing Van Diemen's Land joined to mainland and published 12th May 1794.

North Island of New Zealand described as: Fahei Nomawee.

Ferro meridian.

Scale [ca. 1:60,000,000]. (W 180°-E 180°/N 90°-S 90°).
