He paku kōrero mō Hone Mokehakeha, e kīa ana ko Kehu he tipuna nō Ngāti Apa, nō Ngāi Tahu, nō Ngāti Mamoe, ā, nō Ngāti Tūmatakōkiri hoki. Ka pānuitia tēnei kōrero mō te tipuna nei nā ngā kōrero kei roto i ngā hautaka a Thomas Brunner, a Charles Heaphy mā. Ka kōrerohia anō mō tana mahi hei kaiārahi i ngā kaitirotiro, arā ko Brunner rātou ko Heaphy, ko William Fox. Kei kōnei hoki tōna whakapapa.

Describes the period of strife for Ngati Tumatakokiri, into which Kehu was born. Gives a life history, based on the journals of Thomas Brunner, Charles Heaphy and others. Focuses on his role as an explorers' guide to Brunner, Heaphy and William Fox. Includes Kehu's whakapapa.
