Text on paper with various watermarks: including fleur-de-lis (Briquet 7064), pot (Briquet 12478), keys (Briquet 3818), shell (Briquet 4509), scythe (Briquet 6150), letter P (similar to Briquet 8530-8445), cup (similar to Briquet 4589).

Binding: Contemporary binding in brown calf over 7mm thick oak boards cut flush with text block; brass clasps, with remains of leather straps on lower cover; endbands sewn on tawed leather cores laced into boards, with head and tail caps folded over and sewn through; remnant knife-cornering on turnins; vellum manuscript pastedowns (now free), the writing off-set to the boards. Text block sewn on four split alum-tawed thongs laced into the boards showing on the spine as raised bands. Five spine compartments, manuscript library shelf mark 'D.9i' in black on white background in top compartment, and manuscript title in black on red background in second compartment. The upper and lower boards are tooled in blind to a panel design, with fillets and small single tools including diamond-shaped fleur-de-lis and flowers in vase tools, and round tools with various animal and bird motifs. Probably bound by the monks of the Carthusian monastery, Marienburg near Dülmen for their library. Spine title: "Homilia diver-sorū Doctorū de Temp. & S'n's".

Provenance: Initials supplied in red ,(on [1]r), in blue and red, and on [133] r in blue, both with penwork in red and green extending into inner margin); headlines, paragraph marks, initial strokes and underlines also in red. Ms. marginalia, marks and underlines largely in second half. Penwork in brown ink in initial on [163] r. Ms. quiring on rectos at right of head margin changing to right of tail margin towards end. Pencil foliation of some sections. Small water stains. With a few wormholes at beginning and end.

Provenance: Inscriptions: “Liber dom[us] castri marie p[ro]pe dulmania[m]” (on front pastedown); “Hu[n]c libru[m] cu[m] sex alijs donauit nobis vnr[?] d[omi]n[u]s euerhardus scroeders pro quo fide liter orare debemur” (on recto of front flyleaf). “In hoc co[n]tinet[ur] omelie estiualis de t[em]p[or]e et de sanctis” (on verso of front flyleaf). "Liber dom[u]s Castri Mariæ prope Dulmaniam" ([288]v). Bequeathed by T.L. Seddon. 21 March 1962. Acc. 352239.
