Includes views of the construction on a timber dam (probably in Coromandel), Coromandel Public Hospital, Kennedy Bay (Coromandel), a stream crossing between Opitonui and Coromandel, bush camps in the Coromadel district and a traffic bridge in Rodney County. Daniel P Parker is recorded in the Wise's Post Office directories as an engineer in Coromandel from 1902 to 1930. Between 1906 and 1911 he is also recorded as a photographer. Description: "Illustrating geological formations, Vol 2". Black & white photographs showing the geology and geomorphology of the Rotorua area, taken while George Leslie Adkin was attending a New Zealand Geological Survey Staff Conference, May 9-22, 1948. Includes images of a thermal spring at Ohaki (near Rotorua), the Hinemaiai Stream; Lakes Taupo and Rotoaira, aerial views of the Tongariro volcanic complex showing Mt Tongariro, Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe with the Waco plane used for the flights; the Tikitere thermal area; Lake Rotoiti; the ignimbrite gorge of the Waikato River at the Maraetai dam site; Whakarewarewa; Maggie Papakura's house at Tuhoromatakaka, Whakarewarewa. He later visited Napier and Hastings (Sept 3-7, and 15-20, 1948), and has images showing Napier City; the shingle beach at the breakwater, Napier; Ahuriri Bluff, and the Manawatu Gorge. On Sept 9th 1948 he took photographs of the Wellington Peninsula from Parkvale Road to Mt Kaukau, and from Mt Kaukau showing the Wellington City hill system and its topographical features.

Important episode at Fiji, 27 Jul 1862, having recently arrived at Levuka, Captain Jenkins summoned the chiefs "to a formal meeting on board the Miranda for the purpose of conveying to them the decision of H.M. Ministers not to accept the sovereignty of the Fiji Islands, in terms drawn up by His Excellency Sir John Young". Includes text of declaration in English and Fijian. The Miranda stayed at Levuka most of Jul and Aug; entertained King Thankombau; description of Levuka. Wreck of the `Orpheus' described, Feb 1863. Mainly short log entries but 1863 in some detail; summaries for 1861, 1862 included.
