Description: Seamen from the `Wairata', in Dunedin, protesting about job losses due to the sale of the freighter by the Union Steam Ship Company. Shows men on board the ship, by a sign reading "Another sellout. 42 more men unemployed. Photographer unidentified. Publication note - Published in the Evening Post, 12 September 1967 The men initially refused to help move the ship from the Rattray Wharf to the Birch Street Wharf but later agreed to assist. Evening Post caption reads "the `Wairata', the third Union Steam Ship to be paid off in the last year..." Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s).
