Lists buildings in Wellington, Christchurch and Lyttelton which have been fitted out with these alarms, including the new Government Buildings in Christchurch in 1916. There is a photograph of this building, and of Turnbull & Jones Christchurch headquarters; of the indicator board and transmitter at the Christchurch "Press" buildings, the transmitting instrument, the Christchurch premises of Whitcombe & Tombs, the New Zealand Shipping Company's wool store at Lyttelton, Mr H F Stevens' premises in Christchurch, the Post and Telegraph Department's bulk store at Pipitea Point Wellington, Mt Albert Industrial School Auckland; three p[hotographs of the result of a fire at the Children's ward of Christchurch Hospital; the Christchurch "Press" building. front and back covers show illustrations of the useful preventive effect of a fire alarm system. Description: Illustrated booklet showing different fences and gates available. There are illustrations of the Anchor clamp and ratchet, a method for setting end corner posts, styles of 6-wire fences, wire-bound gates, the Anchor fence hurdle, ornamental fences (six designs shown), and residence gates. Includes photographs of staff at the Anchor Fence company, with buildings of the Massey-Harris Company adjacent. There are also photographs of fences on the properties of S I Ffitch esq Dallington, and H P Slater esq Sandilands, New Brighton Road. Page 30 shows testimonials from S I Ffitch (Dallington, Christchurch), W B Clarkson (Riccarton, Christchurch), Gilbert Jackson (Christchurch), H P Slater (Christchurch). The cover shows an illustration of a farmer surveying an injured horse lying with its legs entangled in a barbed wire fence while another horse and sheep look on. Description: An arrangement of text, listing on the left side the colour picture supplements: "Mana" (Te Heuheu V) and "The Manawatu Gorge", and the stories included in the 1905 Christmas number of the 'Weekly Press'. Down the right side is a list of all the illustrations in the Christmas number, covering topics of landscape, tourism, and personal interest. The Library holds copies of the colour supplement illustrations: "Mana" by Wilhelm Dittmer, at C-067-001, and "Manawatu Gorge" at C-065-017. Description: Arrangement of text with varied lettering and border. The conductor was Mr Arthur Towsey, and the stage manager Mr J J Kinsey. The honoarary secreatry was H O D Meares. Performers included: F Corbett, Mrs Westmacott, J P Newman, Mrs J P Kelly, H Gray, C Jennings, Miss Fairhurst, W Izard, Mr Millar, F de C Malet, James C Martin, John Cooke, F E Cobby, Mr Low, Mr Leatham, J P Newman, B C Ridings, Mrs Frank Graham, Miss Towsey, W C Hodgson, E R Anderson, Alex Lean jnr, G Humphreys, W Charlewood, Master C Gresson. Dated in the 1880s, assuming that Mr Justice Johnston is Alexander James Johnston, 1820-1888. Arthur Towsey was conductor for the Christchurch Amateur Operatic Society in 1886. Description: Portrait of Maori chief Te Heuheu V, holding a mere. He is seated in front of an elaborately carved doorway. The oil painting on which this print is based is in the collection of Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, Wellington Extended Title - Supplement to: New Zealand illustrated, the Christmas number of the Weekly Press, 1905. The following year, the 'Weekly press' Christmas supplement portrait was of Te Heuheu Tukino V's wife, Te Rerehau Kahotea (now at C-067-002).
