Description: Shows a stand of trees of various species on a gentle slope with open spaces between the trees. A man, possibly Dr Hector, is seated on a cut stump on the left. He is smoking a pipe.. James Hector wrote on this trip about the appearance of New Zealand bush in the Matukituki area and how well the trees could adapt to be specimen trees in European garden settings.
