Context: Refers to the 'cup of tea' which was a publicity stunt between PM John Key and ACT candidate for the Epsom by-election John Banks; the conversation between the two was recorded by a cameraman - Key tried to suppress the recording and demanded the cameraman be charged. Lawyers for freelance cameraman Bradley Ambrose, Prime Minister John Key, and the police struck a deal over the so-called "teapot tape" affair. The tea-party was supposed to signal the government's backing of John Banks's candidacy. Their conversaton was recorded and John Key tried to have the recording suppressed, unsuccessfully.
