Includes displays viewed and events attended by the royal couple, as well as travelling between towns by car and train. Places visited include: the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Wigram airport, Canterbury University, the view over Lyall Bay from Truby King's house, Dunedin war memorial and the war memorial at Waitaki Boys' High School, Government House in Wellington. Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working. Description: Album of photographs relating to William Lints' Reveille Company, presented to Beeban Annadale McKnight after her marriage to John McKnight. Beeban Annadale MacDonald performed with the company for five years before her marriage in 1923. Many of the photographs are of her at various sites on the tours around New Zealand. Others include one of Gladys Moncrieff and one of Mae Baird, both selling Reveille programmes in Christchurch. William Lints himself appears in a number of the photographs. Description: Memoirs written by Spence about 1939 beginning with a description of his family and life on the Orkney Isles, going to school followed by his working life there; he writes of his decision to go to New Zealand and his arrival in 1888 on SS Ionic. He describes his decision to become a Presbyterian minister and the various stages this entailed before he was ordained in 1902. Following appointments in New Zealand he went to Australia where he remained. The Spence family did revisit New Zealand frequently and describe their holidays in many parts of the country including Rotorua, Auckland, Napier, Dunedin, Christchurch, Woodville and Wellington. The memoirs are accompanied by an abstract compiled by Spence's grand-niece, Heather Jones.
