Description: The images record three separate events: 1. Leslie Verry's trip to Europe in 1939 as the world prepared for war. 2. The New Zealand Centennial celebrations at Waitangi in 1940. 3. A climbing trip to Tongariro National Park, easter, 1940. In relation to the Second World War, this album is interesting in that it has several photographs showing mobilisation in Holland, and troops on the move in Utrecht and the Hague following the Italian invasion of Albania in April 1939. It also has photographs taken in Kassa (Hungary) after the partition of Czechoslovakia.
