Description: The McMenamen homestead, Terawhiti, during the search for survivors from the Penguin, which was wrecked on 12 February 1909. A group of searchers may be seen in the background, and a photographer may be seen in the open doorway of the farm shed in the centre background. Photograph taken by S C Smith of Wellington. The photographer who may be seen with his tripod in the doorway of the farm shed in the background is probably Joseph Zachariah (1867-1965), who practiced in Wellington as Zak Studios.
