Description: A panoramic view from Flagstaff Hill (Maiki Hill), above Russell, showing the Bay of Islands. The houses of Russell (Kororareka) lie below to the left, with a house on a nearby hill in the foreground; Paihia mission station and houses are visible in the distance across the water left of centre. 'Waitangi. Mr Busby's house where treaty was signed' is noted and can be seen immediately left of centre. 'Keri Keri' (Kerikeri) is noted right of centre, across the water, with a few houses visible. Moturoa Island is next on the right, followed by Black Rocks and, on the far right, Ninepin Rock. There is currently no feature in the Bay of Islands called Nine Pin (or Ninepin) Rock. This may be an earlier name for Harakeke Island, at the northern entrance of the Bay of Islands Inscriptions: Recto - beneath image - in ink, beneath image, from left: Kororareka or Russell. Paihia.
