Description: Contains notes copied by Best from the MSS of Te Whatahoro Jury about the discovery and settlement of New Zealand by Maori, together with various whakapapa; also includes notes copied from Shand's MSS about Wellington and the Chatham Islands; also includes some Ngati Porou whakapapa contributed by Ropata Wahawaha, and notes about Wellington Maori placenames contributed by Mrs Te Puni; contains further notes about Ngati Kahungunu and Rangitane at Wairarapa, early settlers in Porirua-Johnsonville areas (1840), vessels arriving and departing Wellington 1854-1856. Includes an extract from the surgeon's journal (Francis L Vickerman) of the `Kelso', 1849. Also material relating to the Treaty of Waitangi.
