Description: Photographs of Kamo (Whangarei), Rodney County and Coromandel, taken, probably in the 1900s, by Daniel P Parker of Coromandel. Includes views of the construction on a timber dam (probably in Coromandel), Coromandel Public Hospital, Kennedy Bay (Coromandel), a stream crossing between Opitonui and Coromandel, bush camps in the Coromadel district and a traffic bridge in Rodney County. Daniel P Parker is recorded in the Wise's Post Office directories as an engineer in Coromandel from 1902 to 1930. Between 1906 and 1911 he is also recorded as a photographer. Description: Postcard with a photo-mechanical reproduction of a photograph, taken by Webb. It shows three statues by Charles Francis Summers - Susannah surprised by the Elders; Zephyr & Cupid; Baccante and the infant Bacchus - all exhibited at the New Zealand International Exhibition, 1906-1907. Postcard printed by Smith & Anthony Limited, ca 1907 The works were sold by Summers to the commissioners of the Christchurch exhibition. In 1908 the sculptures were purchased by Dept of Tourist & Health Resorts for the Rotorua Bath House. All were sculpted in Carrera marble and are examples of the Neo-Classical style. Description: A circus herald advertising the Fitzgerald Brothers' Circus. Recto shows portrait illustrations of the two Fitzgerald Brothers at the top corners, and below is a large scene showing many acts going on in the Big Top. Performers included: The Zenobia Brothers (globe on a tightrope), Gilleno (musical clown), dog show introduced by Manzoni (from the Folies Bergeres), Mdemoiselle Onra (tightrope), Miss Beryl Loraine (contortionist and dancer), Eric and Reano (aerial trapeze comedians), The Flying Meteors, Benato the Clown, The Marottos (horizontal bar) Contains a warning that any swindlers, gamblers, fakirs making false claims and undermining the circus affidavits, will be arrested if found on the grounds.
