Description: There are two scenes. In the first we see a reporter with a hand-held vieo-recorder interviewing three black people, presumably refugees from New Orleans after the Hurricane Katrina disaster. The father is saying cynically that after ten days the water looked so much like oil that President Bush got interested. This refers to his rather slow response to the disaster. In the second scene we see Winston Peters throwing mud, (presumably at an unseen Bob Clarkson). This refers to his falling behind National candidate, Bob Clarkson, in the polls, and slinging an old sexual harrassment accusation at him. Description: Two men seated at a table labelled IPCA (Independent Police Complaints Authority) ask a police officer: "When your officers terrorised busloads of Urewera children what on earth were they thinking?" A thought bubble reveals the policeman thinking about the attacks on the Twin Towers, and ex-President of the United States, George W Bush, who is saying "blah blah blah". Refers to the Authority's investigation into the so-called Urewera raids, which on 23 May, labelled the police actions during the raids unlawful, unjustified and unreasonable. The investigation revealed that during the raids 3 children under 10 allegedly had rifles with red laser lights pointed at them and were kept under armed guard in a shed for nine hours without food or water during the Urewera police raids in 2007. Description: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully, represented as an alien, stands in front of a landed spacecraft sporting a banner reading 'Mission accomplished'. he announces that he has come from 'Planet Nato', and that 'the Allies are pulling out as Afghanistan is ready for peaceful transition! Mission accomplished!' There had been several purported UFO sightings and landings in New Zealand, as noted by the cartoonist. McCully at the time was attending a NATO meeting in Chicago, where the withdrawal from Afghanistan was announced. 'Mission Accomplished' refers to the banner displayed by the former President of the United States, George W Bush, when he prematurely declared the end of the war in Iraq.
