Description: Shows a young woman with hair parted in the centre and drawn back, dressed in a blue dress with a white lace collar and red scarf, seated at a table with a pencil and either sketchbook or journal in front of her. The portrait is frontal and half-length. Inscriptions: Verso - bottom right - S. G. 1852; Recto - I hope to replace this at some future time. This is less striking than the others, tho I am convinced it is quite as correct the difficulty arises I believe from the great variations in Mary's countenance. S. G. Matured opinion - not calculated to recall the person to the mind. Woodlands Motueka New Zealand, S.G. Portrait of my eldest Daughter Mary Field Greenwood Aged 16 years, Febry 1852. Description: Half length frontal portrait of the artist's daughter Agnes. She is shown aged nearly 11, formally dressed and with her hair parted in the centre and drawn back. (She died of influenza two years later, aged 13) Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - S. G. Decr 1852; Verso - At top: "Copied from the original drawing, August 1858. I am sorry to say this likeness is not so good as in that taken for my dear Mother, and which she kindly sent me back, after my dear child's death. Sarah Greenwood, Woodlands, Motueka, New Zealand". Description: Shows a view of Wellington Harbour with Thorndon Quay or Esplanade, the year before the reclamation started. The square object along the pier at the end of the esplanade may be an early version of the Thorndon swimming baths, although the later turretted version was built out into the harbour from reclaimed land. The foreground shows lawns surrounded with trees, probably the garden at Tiakiwai, the home of the Stowe family.
