Description: Map of North Island, South Island, Stewart Island of New Zealand with numerous named small islands. Rivers, settlements, cities and towns are named, as are coastal features such as bays, capes, points, heads, rocks, sounds, inlets. Principal lighthouses are marked. Lit lighthouses are also recorded. Points of shipwrecks are marked with the name and type of ship, the date of shipwreck and lives lost. Insets include lists of shipwrecks with references to places and points of shipwreck. Dates range from September 1795 - 2 March 1936. Date changed from [1935?] to [1936] based on the fact that the map includes a ship wreck from March 1936 and Halse died in 1936. 21 October 2016. Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Description: Surveying map of defence works adjacent to the Ngauranga Stream. Includes sites of N.C.O.'s cottage, a stable, engine shed and shed. The site of an hotel is marked. A note refers to an old peg in fence (Climie) opposite Clapham's Hotel. Topographic features are described and include details of a hill and edge of a cliff. The Wellington & Napier Railway line is named. The second surveying map in the top right corner is of section 8 and includes the site of a peg in fence opposite the Clapham Hotel. A pencilled note refers to the Ngauranga Hotel which has been overwritten with the name of Clapham's Hotel. An area of Native Reserve and the site of the Main Road are marked. Includes the name I. H. Luscombe.
