Taken by an unidentified photographer, circa 1928. Note on back of file print reads: Date - ca 1928. Wgtn Botanic Garden. Glenmore hills looking south east across Kelburn. Work is underway demolishing he ridge (now the site of Magpie Lawn) and filling the Glenmore Gully. This was part of a larger project which involved widening Glenmore Street and Tinakori Road to conform with the newly formed Bowen Street. The entire frontage of the Botanic Garden was remodelled between 1927 and 1930. The piping of the stream, the filling of the gully and the leveling of Magpie Lawn had been completed by December 1928.
