Description: Albert Percy Godber's grandson Colin Hartwig, sitting beneath a carved notice for the Te Teko Presbyterian Maori Mission. Carving done by A P Godber, and the photograph taken at Silverstream between 1937 and 1940 by Godber. There are two photographs, taken at the same time, one of which is dated 1938 in Godber Album Vol 100, p 82; and the other is dated 1940 (Godber Album Vol 100, p 42). Another date (1937) is given in Godber's index filed in Photographic Archives at TL 6/1/15 (1/4 plate. H. Hartwig, Colin & notice (2). Silverstream. 1937. Box 34. Maori Mission notice). Description: Exterior view of the front of the Arowhenua Hotel, Arowhenua, South Canterbury, photographed between 1937 and 1941. Shows a two storied wooden building with the name of publican W J Quirke above a doorway. A sign on one wall advertises Speight's ales. A brick house and a horse drawn cart are on the right, behind the hotel. William Quirke took over the license for Arowhenua Hotel in June 1937, and transfered it in 1941.
