Description: Map of Otaki, with revisions made in white correcting fluid. The area is from the sea to the racecourse including the Otaki River and the golf links, Otaki Beach, Rangiuru and Otaki Town settlements. Shows the sites of the King George V Memorial Health Camp, several areas of Church Mission Grant land, the Catholic Church Mission Station, Maori Church, pa, memorial to Te Rauparaha, schools, the hospital and sanitorium reserves and a mill. Includes dates when the Catholic Mission Station was opened and dates when the church, presbytery and school were built. Streets and streams are named and the old course of the Otaki River is marked as is the borough boundary and built up areas. A reference key shows numbered sites of interest. Description: Photograph album created by Neville H Mosen of Raetithi. Contains views related to trips taken by the Tongariro Tramping Club and views related to the Mosen family and friends. Taken by Neville Mosen circa 1936 to 1937, and possibly some taken by other unidentified photographer(s). Contains scenic views and views of the Club members on bush walks and skiing in Tongariro National Park, featuring Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and surrounding environs, the Pinnacles at Blue Bluffs, Ruapehu crater lake, Tama Lakes, The Chateau, Whakapapa glacier, Karioi Lakes, Mangawhero River and various tramping huts. Bruce Davis, an amateur photographer who lived in Raetihi is identified. Also includes views of Raetihi township and Horopito locality, Napier, Tauranga (rail bridge and The Strand), and Ngauruhoe erupting (possibly 1937 eruption). Also includes views of Tom Parker posing with the fountain he gifted to Napier in 1936 and scenes of a parade and bonfire in Raetihi to mark the coronation of King George VI in 1937. Also includes the wedding of Gwen Wise (circa 1930s) 5 loose prints have page numbers noted and are in an envelope at the front of the album. The sections, numbered with acreages, are bounded by Bell, Gracefield, Park and Seaview Roads, and the railway line runs through the area.
