Description: Two maps of the Waitangi Parish, Bay of Islands County, North Auckland Land District. First map (sheet one) surveys the IV Kawakawa survey district, concentrating on lot five, but includes the periphery of lots 1-6. Lot five includes topographical features and the Waitangi River. On this map a key to colour-coded boundaries indicates lands and road-lines awarded to the Crown under the Waitangi Endowment Act, roads and lands taken for historic purposes and proposed to be vested in the Waitangi National Trust Boards in July 1932, and in September 1932 (section 17, Reserves and other Lands Disposal Act, 1934). The second map is part of the Kerikeri survey district, and the III Kawakawa survey district IV. It surveys lots one and four. Small manuscript annotations have been added, for example D9 or E7. A key to colour-coded boundaries indicates lands presented to the Crown by Lord and Lady Bledisloe under the Waitangi Endowment Act, road-line vested in the Crown as part of Waitangi Endowment, lands presented to Waitangi National Trust Board by the Bledisloes, roads closed by proclamation vested in the the Waitangi National Trust Board, lands taken by proclamation No. 84155 in July 1932 for historic purposes and proposed to be vested in the Waitangi National Turst Boards, and again in September 1932 (section 17, Reserves and other Lands Disposal Act, 1934). Description: Survey map of Waikawa, Otaki, from the sea, southwards to Waitohu government trig, westwards to Pukehou government trig and Hanawera, and northwards of the Waikawa River to an unnamed pa site near Okau. Depicts Te Rauparaha's Pa (68 acres) next to the Waikawa River, Te Kotai (13 acres), and three Crown land grants - Huritini (1024 acres) to Manahi, an unspecified grant to Rawiri Wanui, as well as Hakeri No. 6F, granted to J and R Ransfield. Several Maori place names are shown, including Wakahoro and Ketemaringi. Contains several pencil annotations regarding numerical survey detail, including a circumference of figures around an unnamed point near Te Motu peak. Shows the area concerning the land claim of ?Waka Takapari Warirongi and others', the division line of the claims, and the area concerning ?Whetu aeo Taekatiu Uiaka. Description: Military map including Hokianga Harbour, north to Wangaroa Bay and northeast to the Bay of Islands during the New Zealand war of 1843-1847. Shows route taken by first military expedition, from the Bay of Islands to Tarrawahena Patuhoni's Pa along native route, and to May and June battle sites. Shows changing positions of Heke Pokai's pa sites where battles took place with the military forces [under Colonel William Hulme]. Shows mission stations, various pa sites, a cart road, forest land, rivers, the volcanic range and Mr William's farm. Inset shows Heke's pa at 1st July 1845, and the strategic position of two colonial military batteries 500 yards from the pa, one which includes native 'allies' and Walker's party. Description: Cadastral map depicting several lots of reserved land and purchased land for named Maori owners. Some text on the titles show money is still outstanding for the land, such as '200 acres reserve for Hone Ropika and party 100 acres to be paid for', some reserved land refers to a list, such as 'Reserve of 500 acres for te Ropiha and his relatives as per list'. There are '75 acres reserve for ?Kirikupu te Haewiriana and Ihaia for natives at Nelson'. One piece of text mentions claims: '40 acres reserve for Hopataiha in consideration of all claims balance over 40 acres to be paid for'. Other names mentioned on the map include Matua ?Tupotea, W Ropiha, Hone Ropiha, Hone Ropiha and party, Wiremu Te ahoaho, Rawiri, N Kawaho, Hopataiha, Matene Tupoti, Tokarama, Wiremu Tako, More, Hohua and party, Wi Te ahoaho and his relatives, Te Ropiha and his relatives. Description: Early cadastral map of Whangarei land blocks, including Owhiwa, Tamatarau, Kaiwha, Waikare and Whanui. The Tamatarau and Kaiwha blocks are sub-divided into numbered lots. Several Native Reserves are named Waimahanga, Pakikaukutu, Taranui, Kahaha and Taiharuru; one is unnamed. 'Native land' blocks are named Ruriwai and Waikaraka; another is 'claimed by Tirarau'. One block is named Kohinui, 442 acres. In the Kaiwha block, lot 71 is named Kakuia, 267 acres. The named settler blocks are Edward Dent, Gorries claim, Hay's claim, Soott and Brown. The remaining land is not surveyed. Some pencil annotations have been added to the map, naming areas in the Whanui block 'Te Ruatepapa', 'Te Hauku' and 'Herematai'; as well as numerical survey markings.
