Description: Cadastral map of Evans Bay to Kilbirnie, also to Constable and Owen streets, Newtown, Wellington. The area includes the coastline with Patent Slip and proposed jetties near Belvedere Road to Rodrigo Road, Kilbirnie. Numbered sections include acreages and some sites of houses. Roads are named and a stream with a bridge is marked. A note states 'right to water' at Busaco Road. A track to Lyell [sic] Bay is noted, as is a road to the Pilot Station. The town belt is marked. The lithographer is named as Lyon & Blair. Additions to the map are prominently marked sections at Evans Bay with various dates and names of Short, Williams, Ferguson, Harcourt, B. Smith, Rhodes, Rae, McCarthy, Boon, Earl, Knowles, Barber, Tait, White, Edw. Barton. The name of Lyon is marked in sections at Kilbirnie. Description: Five base maps of the Adelaide Road and King Street industrial area, Newtown, Wellington have been used to show the conversion of residential and multiple small industrial units to two industrial enterprises based there in 1950 approximately. Myrtle Crescent, Drummond and Hansen streets are named. Plan No. T.P. 111 - 4/68 shows the existing conditions of residential and industrial occupancy. A reference key details the number of residential units and persons. The industrial reference key lists street addresses, names of occupiers and volume of floor space. Occupants include slipper factory, plumber, bank agency, grocer, furniture factory, metal spinner, carrier's depot, ladies tailors. Also named is a section of vacant Crown Land and W.C.C. sub-station. Pencilled additions are of a reclamation area, Wellington City Council sections, Tramway Hotel, site of a new building, also the names Spincraft, East, Harte. Plan No. T.P. 112 - 4/69, Stage 1 of Development. Reference keys show numbers of families to be re-housed from residences to be demolished and premises required for industry which includes ownership statistics of Asiatics. Industries to be rehoused are listed as plumber, furniture factory, metal spinner, millinery, grocer, bank agency. Property to be acquired is also highlighted. Plan No. T.P. 113 - 4/70, Stage 2 of Development, shows the Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 5,500 square feet. The building line is marked. The route of King Street has been altered. Plan No. 114 - 4/71, Stage 3 of Development. The Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 55.500 square feet with building line is shown. Also the Incubator Factory site with its building line and site of a new building is prominently marked. Family units to be re-housed from residences to be demolished are referred to in a key. Plan No. 115 - 4/72, Stage 4 of Development. The Post and Telegraph Department's site, approximate area 55,500 square feet, with building line is shown. The Incubator Factory site, approximate area of 41,400 square feet, with building line and site of a new building is marked. Description: A brochure or advertising newspaper issued to announce the opening (the previous week) of the Inferno Disco at the corner of Riddiford and Constable Street in Newtown. Reports on the DJ Malcolm Shipley assisted by Pete Bell. The brochure contains photographs of the opening, comments upon the influence of the film "Saturday night fever" and "Grease" both starring John Travolta, reviews two recent films and several film soundtracks. The disco was open evenings Wednesday - Sunday and on Saturday afternoons. There is also an advertisement for Studio 76 and tutor Sharon Vanesse whose students danced at the opening of the Inferno.
