Description: A Maori family, in traditional Maori clothing, reclining at the top of a cliff in the foreground, with an extensive view beyond of Palliser Bay, the sandbank formed at the mouth of the Ruamahanga River and Okorewa Pa, also at the mouth of the river on the flat land below. Description: Head and shoulders portrait of Ngati Kahungunu leader of Otaria Pa, Wairarapa, Ngatuere Tawhirimatea Tawhao. He is shown in a flax cloak with a greenstone tiki around his neck, full moko and full white beard. No artist's name is given on this reproduction but the painting appears to be the work of Lindauer. The reproduction has the additional information "From a painting in the possession of Mrs Aperera Mohi, Carterton, New Zealand". Description: A view from a high standpoint, looking down into Palliser Bay, with Okorewa Pa faintly indicated at the mouth of the Ruamahanga River, with the sandbar beyond it. A Maori family, dressed in traditional Maori clothing, and two redcoats in the foreground Original of no Plate 15, 44 in Brees' "Pictorial Illustrations of New Zealand" (London, 1847).
