Description: View of the intersection of Lambton Quay and Charlotte Street (later known as Molesworth Street), Wellington. Photograph taken from the waterfront looking towards Tinakori Hill by William Henry Whitmore Davis. At the extreme left is the house of `Squatter' Jones, with Government House immediately to the right. In the foreground to the right are the houses of Dr Samuel Evans (on the corber of Charlotte Street), and Barrett's Hotel. Behind them are Parliament Buildings and St Mary's Cathedral. From left to right are: Old St Pauls and St Pauls schoolhouse (behind); Royal Hotel; Brown & Ross, livery stables; Davies & Sims, blacksmith & farriers (behind); F Magnuson, tailor, Clements & Dawson, grocer & general store; and a painting and paperhanging business. The left hand side of the panorama is printed separately and overlaps. This includes Barrett's Hotel with Parliament Buildings and St Mary's Cathedral behind.
