Description: Text extract from a newspaper describes a political campaign meeting at Lawrence. "The hall was densely crowded, there being fully five hundred people present, including about one hundred ladies, who gave attentive ear to the utterances of the candidate". Mr Rawlins discussed rhe Railways, the liquor question, labor measures, lands for settlement, rabbits, the Legislative Council, mining, education, taxation and free trade.
