Description: Map of the area from Kawiti's Pa at Ruapekapeka to Pahia, including the Bay of Islands, to Cape Brett and the coastline south of Wangarura Harbour. Inked lines identify the routes taken by the combined forces in December 1845, including descriptions of the terrain and dates of their advancement. Physical features such as rivers, rocks and bays are named. Stockades and Pa sites are marked, as well as two routes taken by the combined forces which includes notes about the terrain. Description: Hand-drawn map which shows topographic features, vegetation and the boundary of Reserve 2652. Shows the land to the south of the reserve to the Tasman River. Pencil note on map says 'T N Brodrick?'. Lettering on map is not the same as other maps by Brodrick. Phillip Temple believes that the map was drawn by Wright based on a letter by Wright to J H Baker, Canterbuy Chief Surveyor, in 1884 in which he refers to the features, names and numbers shown on the map and recommending that the area be put under reserve. The reserve was created in 1885. W C Wright is listed as a surveyor for the Canterbury District of the Survey Dept under J H Baker, Chief Surveyor, by Wises New Zealand post office directory, 1883-4 Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Description: Map from Waitemata Harbour to the Manukau Harbour showing all major Maori pa sites, villages and placenames This map has many similarities, although is not quite the same, to the frontspiece map from "Important judgements delivered in the Compensation Court and Native Land Court 1866-1879" Published under the direction of the Chief Judge, Native Land Court by Henry Brett, General Steam printer 1879, and to the map in the title by Alexander Mackay "Judgements Native Land Court and papers re native land tenure, etc" (see bound in map facing page 96, at the Alexander Turnbull Library NZ&P Collection Reference P 347.9 NZ Nat). Description: Hand drawn survey map of the railway line and adjoining land from Te Aute station, now known as Opapa, south to Pukehou, a small settlement past the railway crossing to Patangata, a distance of 33 miles. Place names were current at the time of the survey, but some have since changed. Te Mata Survey District, Maraekakaho Survey District and Waipukurau Survey District are written prominently across their respective sections, as are Pukerowhitu Block, Pukekura West Block, Piharoa Block, Poupoutahi Block, Otu Koto Rewhero Block, Roto a Tara Block, Native Land and Te Aute College Land. The counties of Hawke's Bay and Waipawa are named with an indication of the county boundary. Henry Russell's name as a land owner, appears on either side of the railway line, once linked with 'natives'. Three roads, which are named, are the Main Road South, the Main South Road to Te Aute and the road from Patangata. Includes swamps and the lake, Roto a Kiwa, which is possibly the one referred to in the note as having been drained. 2 maps accompanied by 1 photocopied sheet with the following notes:- Henry Russells's land shown as part of railway below Rota a Kiwa. Past Te Aute Station, & railway from Opapa (then Te Aute) to Pukehou. Te Aute, Peulee & W/Peel (writing difficult to decipher) & shown lands purchased from Rathbone prior to draining the lake. The completed part of the map includes numbered sections with acreages and boundary measurements. Streets are named, Deed Plan numbers are noted. Additions to this map include values in pounds sterling and dates between 1920 to 1928. Khandallah substation is named, Centennial Park and the Village Area School. A gully is marked. A pencilled note refers to land given to the Wellington City Council in exchange for roads and other considerations.
