Description: Shows blockhouse in distance atop a small hill. In the foreground, in front of small cliffs on the shoreline, is a stretch of water, a canoe, and three figures, possibly spear fishing. The title includes "Manukau Hrbour". The Whau River arises north of the Manukau Harbour, and flows into the Waitemata Harbour at Avondale. Nevertheless this view could have been taken from Manukau Harbour looking north to a blockhouse built near the source of the Whau, rather than at its mouth on the Waitemata.
