Following the 'Roast Busters' scandal and the revelation that the Waitemata police had ignored at least four complaints of rape, Police Minister Anne Tolley on 6 November ordered an independent investigation into the police handling of the Roast Busters sex case, saying she is disappointed. She had she had written to the Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) and asked it to investigate the case, particularly the questioning of a 13-year-old girl in 2011.
