Description: Miners in Millerton playing a game of "Forty fives". There are three men playing the game, and one other man is watching. Another man is only partially in the shot and he is also watching and holding a glass of beer. Taken by John Dobree Pascoe on Saturday 23 September 1944. Original caption reads: "Others play the uproarious 'forty-fives', a card game impossible of definition, where the five of the trump suit beats all other cards. This game is wholly characteristic of Buller mining communities."
