Description: Drawn on a published map, the annotations depict river discharge limits into the sea. A handwritten reference key notes that the blue shaded area denotes river and smooth water limits which covers the area around Napier. At this site on the map a semi-circular pencilled line has been added and another handwritten note states that this is the revised smooth water limit. The red shaded area denotes extended river and partially smooth water limits which covers the bay from Cape Kidnappers across to Portland Island. The green line drawn from Cape Turnagain to Portland Island denotes extreme limits. Two inset base maps are included. One is entitled 'Continuation of the coast from Castle Pt. to Cape Palliser' and includes pencilled and red inked annotations of navigational routes with compass markings. Red inked dotted lines from Flat Point and Castle Pt. are also marked as navigational routes to Rarotonga. The second inset base map is entitled 'Long Point Anchorage.' Includes soundings in fathoms.
