Description: Album mainly of photographs of the assembly and departure of the Main Body, New Zealand Expeditionary Force, from Wellington in October 1914. It includes photographs of the troopships, Japanese and British naval escort, temporary camps, exercising of horses, embarkation of soldiers and loading of supplies. One photo showing the Verdala (As HMNZT No 13) with a pencil annotation reading 'Verdala with reinforcements' from December 1914. Most photographs were taken by S C Smith, with others taken by H R Maybury, Leslie Hinge and W F Tibbutt.
