Description: Collection comprises: Photographs of construction of Pukaki and Tekapo hydro stations, ca 1948 Scenes in Mangakino and Tokoroa, 1947 Stockton and Rotowaro coal mines, ca 1947 Waiouru military camp, ca 1951 Otago Harbour, 1947 Ernest Norman Croad joined the Public Works Department in 1945 as a drafting cadet. He later trained as a surveyor and qualified as a civil engineer, working on roading projects for the Ministry of Works. He worked on civil engineering projects at Tokoroa, Tekapo, Pukaki, and the housing division at Waiouru. Quantity: 95 b&w original photographic print(s). Description: Photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber, chiefly between 1934 and 1947, but including copies of some of his earlier photographs. Views include trips in the North and South Islands, and views of his home and family, especially in Whiteman's Valley Road and the area around Silverstream. Also various scenes of floods (Hutt River), and storm damage. Photographs associated with roads and railways include steam locomotives, tunnels, bridges and viaducts, some under construction. Among the trip photographs are views of Ngaruawahia, including King Koroki's house (opened in 1938) and the Maori Parliament House.
