Description: 8 images of hotels including one of Porirua Hotel in the distance beyond a scattering of houses, a small church and a Shell station. Three are of a bad tram accident at the corner of Webb Street and Taranaki Street where a Thorndon tram went right through the premises adjacent to the Napier-Wellington Transport Co Ltd. Police and passers-by are looking on and workmen are trying to clear the debris. The last image is of what may be a nurses' hostel at Wellington Hospital. Photographer unidentified. McIntosh album 11

Description: Album of photographs, probably taken by George William Barltrop, chiefly taken on a tour around the South Island. The first images relate to an area around Wellington, including Waiwhetu and Wainuiomata, including scenes of the Wainuiomata Reservoir. Two photographs taken in a park show three women wearing hats, full-length outfits, and carrying umbrellas, the "McNabs". One photograph shows a group of men and women, members of a camera club. The tour aound the South Island travels from Sheffield, down to the Otira Gorge, up to Lake Brunner and Inangahua, past Murchison, through Longford. In Wellington Harbour the steamship Ophir is sailing out, with people standing on the wharf in the foreground. Also in Wellington, is a large group portrait of men associated with the Missions to Seamen, gathered together on Labour Day 1901. Five photographs are taken around Otaki, one a pastoral scene, and two of three young Maori people (a young woman and a young girl in two scenes, with a second young girl in the third scene); a water mill; and a group of four people having a picnic in a field (two women (one obscured) and a young boy on the left, and a man with a bandaged hand on the right). The last few scenes are again of the South Island, at Temuka, Otago Harbour, Dunedin (including the Octagon), and a tram belonging to the Roslyn Tramway Company with a group of men on the front cab, and three standing in front. Description: Shows seven scenes. In the first a man and a woman are standing at a tram stop looking angry as a full tram passes them by. In the second a man and a woman are sitting at a coffee shop table talking as other other customers are queuing up for seats. In the third a man is leaving a pub carrying a bag containing full flagons of beer as another man is going into the pub to get his empty flagon filled. In the fourth scene the Seatoun tram's overhead poles have become detached from the power lines. In the fifth scene a woman is walking along carrying several bags of shopping and a loaf of bread under one arm. In the sixth scene a woman is battling the wind as it blows her skirt up at the back while she holds it down at the front with one hand and holds her hat on with the other. McIntosh album 16

Description: Photographs probably taken by George William Barltrop, between 1900 and 1905. The images follow on from McIntosh album 15, (these are pages 815-835) starting at Opunake (a church building). Pihama (a memorial to members of the crew of the barque Lizzie Bell which was wrecked off Oeo, 24th July 1901), a view of the Oeo Hotel (F. Morgan, proprietor), and a view of the mast of the Lizzie Bell standing as a memorial at Pihama. These are followed by a panorama of Parihaka (p. 822-823), and a portrait of a man named Ruru, at Parihaka. The rest of the album has scenes in the Auckland area, including a view of Queen Street in which the chemist shop of Charles J Ratgen is clearly visible. A series of images show various Maori artifacts on display at the Auckland Museum. Scenery in Auckland includes the Auckland Domain, Epsom, Tamaki, Auckland Harbour, Rangitoto, St Heliers, Mount Hobson and Mount Eden. Two church buildings are seen, one at Opunake, and the remains of a stone church at Tamaki. A group of photographs show horse-drawn carriages decorated with flowers for a floral fete (p 835-838).
