Description: Postcards of Wellington, Auckland, and Dunedin. These include views of the cities, their notable buildings, suburbs, harbours, and beaches. Of the three cities Wellington is most richly represented with, in many cases, good clear photographs of streets and buildings. The Wellington cable car is well represented and trams are conspicuous features throughout the collection. There are single photographs of Invercargill and Oamaru. Several postcards in the Dunedin section are views of the Waipori Gorge. One photograph shows the Salvation Army Institute building at Featherston Military Camp. Description: Most of the cards date from 1904 to 1914. New Zealand cities and towns are represented, including many notable buildings. Tourist destinations like Lake Wakatipu, the Whanganui river, and Milford Sound feature. One group relate to trams in Invercargill and Wellington, with a photograph from the 1950s of a horse drawn tram in an unidentified town. There is also one photograph of a dairy factory and the milk arriving in wagons. The largest group of town images relate to Palmerston North, most dating from about 1908. The largest group of post cards in the album are all sorts of greeting cards, many of which are hand coloured. Places represented include Christchurch, Hanmer Springs, Invercargill, Wellington, Governors Bay, Rotorua, Pigeon Bay, Lake Wakatipu, Napier, Dunedin, Te Aroha, Skippers Gorge, Hastings, Lyttelton, Milford Sound, Lake Taupo, Waimate, Kawau Island, Whanganui River, Timaru, Oamaru, White Island, New Plymouth, Paekakariki, Akaroa, Palmerston North, Westport, and Hamilton.
