In the foreground are haystacks and barns, and possibly the family house, close to the road The Wills farm, also known as Holstein Farm, was established by Albert Frederick Williams Wills, father of the Reverend John Wills, the artist's husband. Albert died in 1896, and John (Thomas John) inherited the farm. However, he died in 1902, and Mary, along with her young family, sold the farm to outside the Wills family in 1903 and moved away. (James Beard has labelled Abel Tasman Point and located it in the Takaka area. This suggests the location of the Abel Tasman Memorial at Tarakohe. Abel Tasman Point is many miles away from the Takaka area at the southern end of Golden Bay between Ligar Bay and Wainui Inlet. Given that there is no sign of the memorial in this group of slides, I suspect that it is the former location in Golden Bay.) Landscape and Mountain views, Takaka.
