Description: Panoramic negative showing the New Plymouth fire station centre left, on the corner of Liardet Street and Courtney Street. A group of about 18 fire men are posed outside (wearing their uniforms), along with two fire engines, and a wheeled extension ladder held up with props on which one of the fire men is standing half way up. Across the road on the far left is a church, beyond which there is a wholesale drapery, and a peep of the sea at the far end. On the right of the station in the centre of the image there is a road lined with houses. A large two-storeyed house (possibly a doctor's surgery or private hospital) is on the corner opposite the fire station on the right (sign reading "Surgery" on the window of a one-storeyed addition). There are groups of onlookers across the image, including six men in a row outside the house, all wearing suits with waistcoats, three wearing caps, the others wearing hats.
