Shows row of premises of Williams and Co (far left on corner with Fort Street), Ship Chandlers and Sailmakers, E & H Isaacs, General Merchants, W. Brighton, Outfitters, New Zealand Insurance Company offices, P.A. Philips, Ironmonger, T. Delattre, Homeopathic Pharmaceutist. Several men stand beside a variety of horse drawn carriages and handsome cabs which are parked along Queen Street. Taken by unknown photographer circa 1865 - 1866. Description: Cartoon illustration to a magazine article "Five go mad in Auckland", shows an Auckland street lined with tall buildings, with a caricature of Winston Peters in the left foreground smoking. Behind his head is a sign for a coffee shop, and another for a shop offering 1-hour photographic processing. On a balcony of a highrise building at the right, a policeman restrains a man who has dropped an object down to the street. Further along the street is a yellow bus with destination "K Rd" (Karangahape Road). At centre right is the Auckland Town Hall with its clock tower and columns.
